Notes: Healing Service/Wholeness
1) Jesus Christ brought wholeness to person in body, mind and spirit. There is a unity of life. He is still alive to work with men’s and women’s cooperation to effect healing of the whole person.

It is not so much faith is needed as it is the case that more love is needed/

Our fellowship is the instrument of that love. For love to come we must face sternly the problem of the relationship between sin and disease.

Communion with God entails obedience to the moral law in all things. Physical vitality is all part of the creative process of God and is intimately linked with people’s mental and spiritual condition. A close link exists between the body and the mind – particularly the sub-conscious mind.

2) The purpose of prayers is to bring people to the true faith and communion with God of which health is only a part.

The dominant thought of our prayers is to become consecrated channel of the healing life of our risen Lord. It is in Him that we center and not in the sufferer.

Conversion is indissolubly related to cure.

3) The spiritual work of prayer for the healing of the whole person is done in full appreciation and recognition of God’s normal work through the medical and healing professionals. It is supplement and is neither a substitute nor and alternative.

4) “IT IS IMPORTANT TO COOPERATE WITH YOUR DOCTOR AND FOLLOW HIS DIRECTIONS. DO NOT TAKE IT UPON YOURSELF TO CEASE TAKING HIS PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS AND TREATMENTS. LET HIM PROUNCE YOU WELL.” (Lawrence W. Althouse)

5) Some Scripture passage to read:
Luke 17:11-19 (Your faith has made you well)
Mathew 9:2-8 (Your sins are forgiven)
James 5:14-16 (Is any among you sick, pray)
II Corinthians 1:3-5 (God comforts us in affliction)
